INSTALLING MIMERDESK 1.5.3.2 ON MITEL SME SERVER 5.5 The following instructions are for installing MimerDesk 1.5.3.2 on a Mitel SME server 5.5. A Mitel SME Server is a highly customised distribution that turns a PC into an internet server and gateway. It is based on RedHat, and has been designed to be very easy to install and configure. It was originally called e-smith, and is still hosted on many mirrors under that name. See http://www.e-smith.org for further details. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ First, download MimerDesk from http://www.mimerdesk.org/download/releases/mimerdesk-1.5.3.2.tar.bz2 Extract mimerdesk: # tar -jxvf mimerdesk-1.5.3.2.tar.bz2 Read through the INSTALL document, but don't do anything quite yet. This directory has rpm's of all the additional perl modules required to get Mimerdesk running on Mitel's SME Server version 5.5. The perl tarballs were taken from http://www.mimerdesk.org/download/perl_modules, and were turned into rpm's using cpan2rpm. See http://perl.arix.com/. Beyond that, I have done nothing to make sure the spec files on the rpm's are what they should be, but if you are using the SME version specified, there should be no problem. Download the rpm's, and install them with: # rpm -Uvh *.rpm There is also a file called 99MimerDesk. Download this, and edit if you wish to have MimerDesk running from a virtual domain or some other location than /mimerdesk. Then: # mkdir -p /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf # cp 99MimerDesk /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf # /sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save You have now completed most of the INSTALL. There is just the database install to do. You now just follow the INSTALL document from Step 3.6. The following is just the next part of the INSTALL document with a few pointers. 3.6 Just follow the INSTALL doc: # mysql_setpermission Make your choice [1,2,3,4,5,0]: 2 Which database would you like to add: mimerdesk What username is to be created: mimerdesk Would you like to set a password for [y/n]: y What password do you want to specify for : <type password> Type the password again: <type password> The host please: localhost Would you like to add another host [yes/no]: no Are you pretty sure you would like to implement this [yes/no]: yes Make your choice [1,2,3,4,5,0]: 0 3.7 Assuming that you followed the above step exactly. # vi config/mimerdesk.cfg line 22: hostname = localhost line 25: dbpassword = <password used in Step 3.6> line 36: loc_server = http://your.sme.server.hostname OR https://your.sme.server.hostname 3.8 # ./installmimer -p 3.9 # ./installdb * Answer [y] to install MimerDesk tables * Answer [a] to add new tables * Type * and press enter to select all tables * Answer [n] to not select new tables * Answer [y] to add selected tables 3.10 Make sure you specify the command line parameters: # ./installmimer --wwwuser=www --wwwgroup=www -a 3.11 # ./installmimer -u 3.12 # ./installmimer -o 4.
