This shows an XPT (eXpress Passenger Transport) in CountryLink colours approaching and passing a level crossing. As the train approaches the "Ding Ding Bump" (level crossing, as named by three-year-old Stephen), the lights begin to flash. When the train has passed, the lights are turned off.Requires a Java-enabled browser that supports layers.
Bitmaps of XPT set came from CountryLink; bitmap of level crossing lights from SteamRail; rails were hand drawn by the author.
The HTML and JavaScript were hand coded by the author using the OS/2 System Editor, a simple text editor shipped with OS/2 Warp, which is "where I want to go today" (and tomorrow, and the next day, and until computers cease to exist). Testing was done on Netscape v4.61 for OS/2 Warp. Not tested on Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The author learned JavaScript from samples found in existing HTML files, so my knowledge is incomplete. If anyone can tell me how to improve this page, I'd like to hear it! Also, I would like to add the sound of the bells as the train passes. If someone can tell me how to embed a .WAV into a page and define when it's to be played, please email me.
