- BBAutoComplete adds word-level auto-completion to BBEdit on Mac OS X.
You type the start of a word, press a key, and BBAutoComplete types
the letters to complete the word. If BBAutoComplete guessed wrong,
you can keep pressing the key to cycle through other possible
completions, which are gathered from the open BBEdit windows.
BBAutoComplete is probably most useful for programmers, who need to
remember and type long variable and method names, but I've also used
it for normal writing. It's useful any time you need to type long
words quickly and accurately.

- Parsing words is between 20 and 70 times faster than in 1.0.1
(for an 80KB window), with greater improvements on low-memory

DropDMG is the easiest way to create ".dmg" and ".img" disk images on
Mac OS X. Create a compressed image by dragging and dropping--one step
instead of Disk Copy's five. DropDMG supports the zlib, ADC, and NDIF
compressed formats; as well as read-only and read-write images. It can
encrypt images and post-process them with GZip or MacBinary. All the
options are available from AppleScript. DropDMG is robust and has no
trouble handling folders with spaces, quotation marks, dollar signs, or
other "special" characters. It even works without Mac OS X's optional
"BSD Subsystem" installation. Full documentation is included in PDF
format.
New in this Version:
- Multi-threading---DropDMG can create more than one image at a time,
and the interface remains responsive.
- Can divide large images into multiple segments of fixed size.
- Creates uncompressed read-only images, which often compress better
with GZip than internally-compressed image files do.
- Creates read-write images.
- Encodes Mac OS 9 img images with MacBinary so that they can be
transferred on the Internet.
- The status window displays a log that shows all the completed
operations and errors.
- The status window now shows all the format options that are in
effect.
- Faster copying of Mac metadata.
- Worked around Apple bug that sometimes caused errors when creating
large images.
- Fixed bug where DropDMG mistakenly resolved symlinks when copying
Mac metadata. This had caused some metadata not to be copied, and
also caused image creation to fail if the user didn't have write
access to the original file.
- Fixed regression where DropDMG sometimes didn't complain when the
destination folder was inside the source folder.
- More detailed reporting of file copy errors.
- More accurate reporting of what state the image creation process is
in when errors occur.

File Adopter 1.0 is now available.
File Adopter uses your Internet Config preferences to add type and
creator codes to files that lack them. Typeless files are common on Mac
OS X, and are a source of numerous frustrations. File Adopter works with
simple drag and drop. It can replace existing type and creator codes if
they disagree with Internet Config, or only add codes when they are
absent. After adopting a file, it shows you the changes it has made. You
can also hold down Shift to orphan a file, instead of adopting it. This
is useful if you know that the file has incorrect codes but that the
correct ones aren't in Internet Config.

Problem:
An application written in Visual Basic 6 for Windows has to be made a Mac hybrid.
The programmer can find no equivalent Mac version of Visual Basic 6 and is stumped.
Query: Is Visual Basic necessary? Can he use a compiler in some way to achieve the same effect?
Please pardon my queries if they're totally bonkers; I am not a developer and am clueless on the subject. But the problem remains, and time is pressing...

Subject: ITools question
I just bought a new G4 tower and had many system crashes until I did a
Software Restore. I backed up all of my hard drive on CDs before doing
this. One of the crashed occurred while I was setting up my iTools
account on-line. Now I can't log on to my account at iTools using the
user name and password that I had used in my attempt to set up the
account. I can't set up a new account either.
Apple support will not help with this question as they do not support
FREE programs. The on-line help doesn't help at all either. There is no
contact address for questions. I get stalled at the sign up web page on
panel #3 and I guess you only get one opportunity to sign up. Anyone
out there have any ideas?

Anyone else see their machine crashing after 30-50 minutes when
STFInit (version 6.0.5) is installed on OS 9.1 (even when EVERYTHING
else except the basic, standard Apple Inits are disabled)?
Any solutions would be MOST appreciated...
