VLink help - the add link window

Clicking on Multiple run... extends this window to the below view. In it, the browse button has been replaced by the Add and Edit file buttons. Unticking it returns to the above view.

This window is used for adding links, and for editing existing links. Its mode will be shown by the title bar text (shown here as 'Add link') and various differences on the window's buttons, most notably the addition of a Copy to list button.

With this window open, you can click on the main list to either add a link from there to the multiple run list, or get the clicked-on link's path.

Add
Add the link to VLink's main list, or save changes to an edited link.

Browse
This will open the file browser window, and allows you to find files by navigating to the directory and selected the appropriate file or directory..

Cancel
Discard any changes that you made, close this window and return to the main window.

Local file
Ticking this will inform VLink that the file you are adding is on your computer, and it will verify that the file exists. Untick the box if the file is not local, or you want to prevent VLink from checking if the file exists.

Item label
Type a name for your link in this box.

File path/Address
Type the file path or address of the file that you are linking to in this box. Click browse, or add file in a multiple run item, to open the browse dialog and find the file/directory.

Normal
Check this radio button to run the selected link in its default state.

Run maximized
Tick this option to run the link maximized.

Run minimized
Tick this option to run the link minimized.

Click on this button to change all of the text in the File path/Address box to lower case.

+f
If the file in the File path box is a Windows shortcut (*.lnk), you can use this button to convert the link to the file that the shortcut points to.

+c
Click this button, or press Alt+C, to open the command line editing window and add/alter the command line arguments for the selected link.

Copy the text from the File path/Address box to the Item label box.

^-p
Copy the filename from the File path/Address box to the Item label box.

^-pe
Copy the filename, without its file extension, from the File path/Address box to the Item label box.

Multiple run
Tick this option to put the add link window into multiple run editor mode, which gives you further options and controls for compiling multiple run items.

Add file
Available with the window in multiple run mode, this essentially opens the file browse window to add a file to the multiple run list.

Remove file
Delete the selected link from the multiple run list.

Edit file
Open the file browser window in the directory (if possible) of the currently selected link. Clicking Select in the file browser will change only the contents of the selected link in the multiple run list.

Clear list
Click this button to completely clear the multiple run list.

Copy to list
Available when this window is in edit link mode, this will make a copy of the selected link to the main list.

Force order
For a multiple run item, you can tick this box to have VLink attempt to control the order that the multiple links are run to the order they appear in the multiple run list. See link options for more details on force order settings.
